Project Goals

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) is a not-for-profit health care organization comprised of three major facilities: Memorial Hoptital of Carbondale, St. Joseph Memorial Hospital, and Herrin Hospital. Navigating these large facilities can be intimidating for patients and visitors, so a solution was needed to ease their difficulties and help to lighten the responsibilities of SIH employees as guides.

Sr. Clinical System Analyst Fabricio Gamboa called for an application to assist patients and visitors in navigating the labyrinthine corridors of the three SIH hospitals, as well as provide some general information on the individual facilities. The application needed to run on the ubiquitous Android platform, and have a clean, intuitive interface to make the application's services easily accessible. Realization of this goal became the task of three computer science undergrads at Southern Illinois University Carbondale (That's us!).
