Awards and Scholarships
FRANK L. KLINGBERG SCHOLARSHIP
ROTARY CLUB OF CARBONDALE
The Frank L. Klingberg Youth World Scholarship, which honors the teaching and research activities of Professor Emeritus Klingberg, was first awarded in 1986. The award, which will likely be in the $700-$900 range, is given to an SIUC Undergraduate majoring in Political Science.
To be eligible to apply for the award a student:
- must be a U.S. citizen
- must have a 3.0 or better overall grade point average
- must have completed 65 semester credit hours (which may include transfer credit hours)
- must have a grade point average of 3.0 in Political Science
have completed a minimum of 12 semester credit hours in political science (of which 6 semester hours must be in the international relations and/or comparative politics fields of political science, with a letter grade of B or better in each of these two courses).
- The Awards Committee of the Department of Political Science will give additional weight to the applications of those students who give evidence of satisfactory progress in meeting the foreign language graduation requirement of the College of Liberal Arts, extracurricular activities at the College or University level relevant to international affairs, previous study, work, or residence abroad, an academic minor in a field deemed to be directly related to international affairs, and samples of written work with an evaluation by a faculty member who has supervised or evaluated the work.
