CS 540-3
Advanced Computer Networks
Catalog Description
Topics include routing protocols used in internet; data compression techniques; telecommunication systems - its services, architecture and protocols; high speed networks; routing protocols in mobile ad-hoc networks; and a detailed performance analysis of different window flow control and congestion control mechanisms using queuing theory.
Prerequisite:
CS 330 with a grade of C or better, or consent of the instructor.
Objectives
This course will focus on the design and analysis of computer communication networks based on the OSI reference model. Both hardware and software design problems associated with interconnecting geographically dispersed computing systems into a single shared resource computer network will be examined. Emphasis will be placed on evaluating various network components, design strategies, and approaches to analyze and improve network performance.
